Sprint Car Titanium Inboard BIG Brake System

Meet Smith Titanium’s newest brake system for the 2024 season.  The “BOB” – short for “Big Ol’ Boy”.  We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again … this is our best sprint car brake system yet!

The big brake system has a titanium (6AL4V) inboard rotor that has wider internal vents with stiffening ribs and offers double cooling capacity.  Weighing 3.98 lbs, this rotor is .625″ thick and has a standard diameter of 12.2″

The inboard caliper has wider slots to match the .625 wide rotor.  The most important thing about this caliper is that it’s bigger.  Being bigger makes it stiffer.  The stiffness creates two important things:  more even pad wear and a better pedal feel for the driver.  With this system,  you can say goodbye to brake fade and overheating and say hello to shorter stops and longer pad life.  This is a radial mount caliper, making it easier to take off the car to bleed.

At the heart of the system is a 12.2″ x .625″ titanium inboard rotor (6AL4V grade), weighing just 3.98 lbs. It features wider internal vents and stiffening ribs, delivering double the cooling capacity to prevent overheating—even in the most extreme racing conditions.

The radial-mount inboard caliper features wider slots to match the rotor and a larger, stiffer body. That added stiffness gives you:

  • More even brake pad wear

  • Sharper, more consistent pedal feel

  • Virtually no brake fade

And thanks to the radial mount, you can remove it easily for bleeding or maintenance.
