Brake pads wearing more on one side of the caliper:
  1. During the night, oil from engine breather or mud off spray is getting on the outside of the rotor causing lubrication to this pad making it wear less.
  2. The inner half of the caliper and pad does run at a higher temperature than the outer half. (Our fan hub helps this issue)
If the OUTER PAD has more wear, it might because –
  1. 1) The rear end breather tube is exhausting an oil film only on the inside of rotor, causing lubrication to this pad make it wear less.
If the brake pad TAPERS from top to bottom.

This is normal when a caliper has 4 equal piston sizes. We feel it’s more important to use 4 of the largest pistons possible for the highest clamp force.

A staggered piston caliper can help with this, but you have less total clamping force.

In oval track racing, we feel it’s best to sacrifice the picture-perfect pad wear to obtain better stopping power to satisfy the drivers.

With our brake systems and calipers, all pistons will reach equal pressures every time the brake pedal is used. Every caliper we build is fully tested before it leaves and the life span under normal racing conditions are the highest in our market.
